Compound growth is the quiet engine behind most long-term portfolios: your money earns returns, and those returns earn returns. This calculator adds a fixed rate every month to a starting balance plus your monthly contributions.

Choosing a return rate
Long-run averages for broad stock markets have historically landed around 7–10% per year before inflation, but any single decade can look very different. Many planners use 5–7% for a stock-heavy portfolio to keep expectations grounded. For GICs, use the GIC's rate — it's actually guaranteed.
